Ceremony

When deciding to get married in Ibiza, it is important that you read the following information before making arrangements.

There are three ways for non-residents to get married in Ibiza or Formentera

The first option - if one of you is Catholic (you both don't have to be Catholic to marry through a Catholic church here) your first step is to talk to your local Priest and ask him to make contact with the Priest here. Whilst your local priest will be able to guide you through the application process, there is also an English speaking liaison here who will for a fee take care of all of your paperwork requirements between the 2 churches.
For those couples who choose a Catholic ceremony, the hard work is well worth the effort so please do not let the organisation needed to marry in this way deter you.

Our Wedding Co-ordinator can also help you have the church look exactly as you want it and can arrange every aspect such as flowers, music and transport. It is crucial that you get a date, before the majority of the wedding planning takes place. We can prepare a proposal if you have a date pencilled in with the Chapel but will not be able to start booking things until you have a confirmed date. Simply use the link at the bottom of the page to contact us.

The second option - if you are not Catholic or do not wish to have a Catholic ceremony, you can have a blessing in Church through the English speaking Anglican Church here. They offer “The Sacrament of Marriage” which takes the format of a full marriage ceremony, although you will still have had to be married in the UK for it to be legally recognised

As with the Catholic Church ceremony, we will need to know your dates in advance so that we can organise the venue and arrange a meeting between you and the ceremony staff. As previously indicated, the services of everythingIbiza.com are available for all other aspects surrounding the ceremony, and again a date must be secured before bookings can be confirmed.

The third option - if you do not wish to marry in Church you can have a civil ceremony which again must follow a civil, legal ceremony in your home country. It is not obligatory that this takes place beforehand and if time is a factor the home ceremony can take place afterwards, but this must be undertaken in order to legalise your marriage.

A civil ceremony has the advantage that it can be conducted with our non clergy host at a variety of beautiful locations on the island. A beach, a secluded cliff top or onboard a luxury yacht, this is all possible. Perhaps you have always wanted to wed under the stars or with the backdrop of a spectacular sunset, or a country retreat. A civil ceremony allows you to do this whilst leaving the mundane legal obligations back in the UK. It allows you a very special day to yourselves or to enjoy with family and friends. It is the celebratory part of any wedding and the part that you will remember for the rest of your lives.

If at least one of you is a resident here in Ibiza, you may legally marry in your local town hall, followed by a blessing in Church through the Anglican Chaplaincy, or a civil ceremony if you wish.  You need to go to the Spanish Civil Register (Registro Civil) for your application. This is located on Avenida Isadoro Macabich in Ibiza. If you are Catholic you can apply to the Chapel to have a Catholic ceremony which as stated previously is a fully legal union.

If you are interested in renewing your vows then all of the above options will be open to you and we can assist you with any plans and wishes you may have to make this occasion a special one.
